Music I've been listening to - week 1

Recently, I've been to a ton of different hip-hop songs. On tuesday Juicy J and Big Sean each released new highly anticipated albums. Big Sean released "Hall Of Fame" and Juicy J released "Stay Trippy."

Big Sean's album kind of disappointed me. He released several singles leading up to the release of the album and they were all really good. But after I downloaded and listened to the entire album, I realized that those were best songs on the album. I think his first album was way better than the one he just dropped. He put out a song named "Control" that featured Kendrick Lamar and Jay Electronica, and I thought that song was amazing. --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkZZo0XSm5s On this track I thought that Kendrick Lamar had one of the best rap verses of ALL TIME. The sad part was that this song wasn't even put on the album. I think that the album might grow on me in time as many other songs and albums have, but right now I'm a little disappointed the album.

Juicy J has a much different style that Big Sean. I saw him in concert when he came to Austin and it was CRAZY. He's a guy that makes club hits and bangers instead of focusing on lyrics. I didn't really know what to expect from him, because he has some songs that are just horrible and some that I actually like listening to if I'm just driving somewhere or in my room doing homework. His album was actually a lot better then I thought it would be. Now it wasn't as good as Big Sean because Juicy J is incapable of making music better than Big Sean, but I still liked it. It had a track with Justin Timberlake and it had a slow song and I thought that it was really good for Juicy. I think it's amazing that he's still going hard at 38 years old and hope he keeps making hits.

I really can't wait for 2 Chainz and Drake's new albums dropping in september. I think Drake will have one of the best albums of the entire year for any genre of music, just after listening to all of the singles he's produced.

Rock and Roll from class - Week 1

In class this past week we listened to very very old rock and roll. Before wednesday's class, I'd never really cared for the genre. Rock and roll has always appeared to me as hardcore and loud music by artists such as Kiss and ACDC and personally I never cared to listen to anything like that.

But anyways, I really liked what I heard in class from Little Richard and Chuck Berry. I honestly had no idea that there were black guys making Rock and Roll back in the 50s. I really enjoyed Little Richard's energetic style and his passion when he was covering Tutti Frutti. I had heard the song before but I had absolutely no idea that it was by Little Richard. I'd also heard Johnny B Goode in the past and   I had no idea that it was a black man singing.

I hope to listen to more up beat and up tempo rock and roll artists in the near future. I think it will get me much more interested in the genre as a whole.

History of Rock blog - music importance

I listen to a ton of different rap and hip hop music and it plays a huge role in my life. I always am looking for new music that leaks early and I'm always searching for new hot artists. I listen to music in my car all the time and I can't study or do homework without listening to my music.
